The Growth and Production of Hybrid Maize (Zea mays L.) which is Used as a Pole in Intercropping System with Yard-long Bean (Vigna sinensis L.) of Different Row Spacing and Planting Dates
The growth and production of hybrid maize (Zea mays L.) which is used as a pole in intercropping system with yard-long bean (Vigna sinensis L.) of different row spacing and planting dates was studied at Leuwikopo, Bogor. The experiment was arranged as split plot design with three replicates, the row spacing of maize as main plot and the planting dates of yard long bean as sub plot. The row spacings of maize/yard long bean were 100 x 25 cm and 50 x 50 cm. The planting dates of yard-long bean were as same as the planting of maize, 1 week after maize planting (WAP), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 WAP. The result showed that row spacing did not affect maize productivity. The planting date of yard-long bean affected both of vegetatif growth and productivity of maize. The maize to which have yard-long beans planted on 1 WAP and 2 WAP leaning on produced lower productivity than the others.
